The Panama Canal considers the construction of a gas pipeline as part of its expansionin global logistics

The Panama Canal has announced its intention to diversify its operations through the potential construction of a gas pipeline, as part of a strategic plan aimed at strengthening its competitiveness and sustainability. This proposal seeks to maximize the country's logistical potential and address challenges arising from climate change, such as reduced freshwater availability caused by phenomena like El Niño.

Additionally, the strategic alliance with the Port of Houston, the Canal's largest client in Texas, is being reinforced, highlighting its essential role in international trade. During fiscal year 2024, the Canal managed the transit of 423 million tons and aims to reach 520 million tons by 2025, consolidating its leadership in key routes such as the U.S. East Coast-Asia corridor.
